Been a while

So it's been a while since I updated here. I've been trying for a baby since August, so in some respects I've been fairly distracted from losing weight, thinking maybe this month, then maybe the month after... so I've been hovering.

I found out I was pregnant at the end of January, with a baby due in October. I am doing my best not to eat whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it, using the pregnancy as an excuse for eating for 2 (when actually I should be eating for one-and-a-little-bit).

I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and so far I have not really gained any weight with this pregnancy. I've not been trying to lose weight per-se, just trying to eat sensible portions, and do 30 minutes of gentle exercise a day 5 days a week, to try and tone up, and hopefully, I will be the same weight I am now once the baby is born.

Combined with not eating junk for months after the baby is born, and breastfeeding, hopefully I will lose weight fairly steadily, and oh it would be lovely, if when this baby is 1 year old, for me to be down to 12 stone! I am currently 14 stone 2 lbs so that's 2 stone (hopefully, if I manage to only gain baby weight) in a year. In fact, 4 stone in a year might even be do-able, which would bring me down to my ideal weight, and I would be over the moon.

Oh, it looks great on paper, but I guess we'll see what the next 16 months bring!

Over the plateau!

I seem to have finally recovered from the several month long (!) plateau, and am now 3lbs lighter than I was in July (when I reached my lowest weight since pregnancy, at 13 stone 12lb). I have somehow lost 6lb this week (!) and I do hope I can continue losing weight (although not as fast as 6lb a week lol: 2-3lb a week would be great) as although we have decided to start not preventing pregnancy, the more weight I lose beforehand the better!

I have been eating less, but certainly not starving myself, I am feeling comfortably not hungry after meals now instead of full/bloated. So long may this continue!

A little more structure and motivation

Over the last 8 months I have gone down 2 dress sizes, from size 20 trousers to size 16. These size 16 trousers are still a little snug but they do up without me having to lay down and breathe in which is a plus! I would ideally like to go down to a size 10/12 as I was 10 years ago. I am eating more healthily, eating more home cooked dinners, fewer takeaways, and I am trying to walk more although I've not done a huge amount of this the last few months. I have plateaued out for the last few months at around 14 stone.

My main weakness is snacking, as I tend to eat when I am bored.

What I am going to do is start logging what I eat, and how much exercise I do each day. I am hoping that logging what I eat will stop me from snacking a lot! And also motivate me to do more exercise.

Something else I am thinking of doing is changing my main meal to be lunch instead of dinner, to enable me to burn off more calories during the day. I would really love to burn off another stone in weight before I get pregnant again which would take me down to the middle of the overweight bracket, and a much better position than I was when I got pregnant with my son. But even if I don't manage to lose that much weight before getting pregnant again (we are TTC) then I am planning on eating better than I did in my last pregnancy, so I should not gain as much weight, and make it easier to get down to my goal weight. I would like to be down to a comfortable size 14 shortly after giving birth to my second baby. And then a comfortable size 12 within a year of giving birth.

Today marks day 1 of recording my food intake and exercise log. I hope it encourages me to eat more sensibly!
